The legends of self improvement - Anthony Robbins

Click the link above for a video of Tony on stage!

Anthony Robbins is one of the most influential men on the planet today, his teaching impacts millions. He considers him himself a “Peak performance” coach. Here is my collection of the greatest Tony Robbins quotes...

It's not knowing what to do, it's doing what you know

Successful people ask better questions, and as a result, they get better answers

Success is doing what you want to do, when you want, where you want, with whom you want, as much as you want

Setting goals is the first step in turning the invisible into the visible

Most people fail in life because they major in minor things

A real decision is measured by the fact that you've taken a new action. If there's no action, you haven't truly decided

More than anything else, I believe it's our decisions, not the conditions of our lives, that determine our destiny

We will act consistently with our view of who we truly are, whether that view is accurate or not

The secret of success is learning how to use pain and pleasure instead of having pain and pleasure use you. If you do that, you're in control of your life. If you don't, life controls you

Let fear be a counsellor and not a jailer

Beliefs have the power to create and the power to destroy. Human beings have the awesome ability to take any experience of their lives and create a meaning that disempowers them or one that can literally save their lives

To effectively communicate, we must realize that we are all different in the way we perceive the world and use this understanding as a guide to our communication with others

The path to success is to take massive, determined action

Most people have no idea of the giant capacity we can immediately command when we focus all of our resources on mastering a single area of our lives

When you temporarily run aground, remember that there are no failures in life. There are only results. Consider the adage: Success is the result of good judgment, good judgment is the result of experience, and experience is often the result of bad judgment!

If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always gotten

The meeting of preparation with opportunity generates the offspring we call luck
In essence, if we want to direct our lives, we must take control of our consistent actions. It's not what we do once in a while that shapes our lives, but what we do consistently

All personal breakthroughs begin with a change in beliefs

If you want to be successful, find someone who has achieved the results you want and copy what they do and you'll achieve the same results

For changes to be of any true value, they've got to be lasting and consistent

The only limit to your impact is your imagination and commitment

We can change our lives. We can do, have, and be exactly what we wish

Determination is the wake-up call to the human will

I believe life is constantly testing us for our level of commitment, and life's greatest rewards are reserved for those who demonstrate a never-ending commitment to act until they achieve. This level of resolve can move mountains, but it must be constant and consistent. As simplistic as this may sound, it is still the common denominator separating those who live their dreams from those who live in regret
The higher your energy level, the more efficient your body. The more efficient your body, the better you feel and the more you will use your talent to produce
outstanding results

If you don't set a baseline standard for what you'll accept in life, you'll find it's easy to slip into behaviours and attitudes or a quality of life that's far below what you deserve

Surmounting difficulty is the crucible that forms character

One reason so few of us achieve what we truly want is that we never direct our focus; we never concentrate our power. Most people dabble their way through life, never deciding to master anything in particular

You are now at a crossroads. This is your opportunity to make the most important decision you will ever make. Forget your past. Who are you now? Who have you decided you really are now? Don't think about who you have been. Who are you now? Who have you decided to become? Make this decision consciously. Make it carefully. Make it powerfully

It is not what we get. But who we become, what we contribute... that gives meaning to our lives

Live with passion! Passion is the genesis of genius

How am I going to live today in order to create the tomorrow I'm committed to?

Commit to "CAN I!" – Constant And Never-ending Improvement

Your life changes the moment you make a new, congruent, and committed decision

There's no abiding success without commitment

You see, in life, lots of people know what to do, but few people actually do what they know. Knowing is not enough! You must take action

Live life fully while you're here. Experience everything. Take care of yourself and your friends. Have fun, be crazy, be weird. Go out and screw up! You're going to anyway, so you might as well enjoy the process. Take the opportunity to learn from your mistakes: find the cause of your problem and eliminate it. Don't try to be perfect; just be an excellent example of being human

Action is the foundational key to all success

Nothing has any power over me other than that which I give it through my conscious thoughts

Goals are a means to an end, not the ultimate purpose of our lives. They are simply a tool to concentrate our focus and move us in a direction. The only reason we really pursue goals is to cause ourselves to expand and grow. Achieving goals by themselves will never make us happy in the long term; it's who you become, as you overcome the obstacles necessary to achieve your goals, that can give you the deepest and most long-lasting sense of fulfilment

Take control of your consistent emotions and begin to consciously and deliberately reshape your daily experience of life

You might say, what if I screw up? Then screw up big! Go for it! Do a big screw up!

If you can't, you must. If you must, you can

The truth of the matter is that there's nothing you can't accomplish if: (1) You clearly decide what it is that you're absolutely committed to achieving, (2) You're willing to take massive action, (3) You notice what's working or not, and (4) You continue to change your approach until you achieve what you want, using whatever life gives you along the way

Success comes from taking the initiative and following up... persisting... eloquently expressing the depth of your love. What simple action could you take today to produce a new momentum toward success in your life?

I've come to believe that all my past failure and frustration were actually laying the foundation for the understandings that have created the new level of living I now enjoy

In life you need either inspiration or desperation

It is in your moments of decision that your destiny is shaped

Life is a gift, and it offers us the privilege, opportunity, and responsibility to give something back by becoming more

My definition of success is to live your life in a way that causes you to feel a ton of pleasure and very little pain - and because of your lifestyle, have the people around you feel a lot more pleasure than they do pain

Only those who have learned the power of sincere and selfless contribution experience life's deepest joy: true fulfilment

What we can or cannot do, what we consider possible or impossible, is rarely a function of our true capability. It is more likely a function of our beliefs about who we are

When people are like each other they tend to like each other

The greatest men in history - Thomas Jefferson

Click the link above for a video depicting Thomas Jefferson reading the declaration of independence!

Thomas Jefferson was the principle author of the declaration of independence. He is regarded as one the greatest presidents in American history.

Books constitute capital. A library book lasts as long as a house, for hundreds of years. It is not, then, an article of mere consumption but fairly of capital, and often in the case of professional men, setting out in life, it is their only capital

Do you want to know who you are? Don't ask. Act! Action will delineate and define you

Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude

Determine never to be idle. No person will have occasion to complain of the want of time who never loses any. It is wonderful how much may be done if we are always doing

But friendship is precious; not only in the shade, but in the sunshine of life, and thanks to a benevolent arrangement the greater part of life is sunshine

Do not bite at the bait of pleasure, till you know there is no hook beneath it

Happiness is not being pained in body or troubled in mind

He who knows best knows how little he knows

He who knows nothing is closer to the truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors

Honesty is the first chapter in the book of wisdom

I believe that every human mind feels pleasure in doing good to another

I cannot live without books
I find that the harder I work, the more luck I seem to have

I like the dreams of the future better than the history of the past

I was bold in the pursuit of knowledge, never fearing to follow truth and reason to whatever results they led

In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock

It takes time to persuade men to do even what is for their own good

Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today; never spend your money before you have earned it

Nothing gives one person so much advantage over another as to remain always cool and unruffled under all circumstances

One travels more usefully when alone, because he reflects more

Our greatest happiness does not depend on the condition of life in which chance has placed us, but is always the result of a good conscience, good health, occupation, and freedom in all just pursuits

The glow of one warm thought is to me worth more than money

To penetrate and dissipate these clouds of darkness, the general mind must be strengthened by education

When angry count to ten before you speak. If very angry, count to one hundred

Whenever you do a thing, act as if all the world were watching

The legends of self improvement - Earl Nightingale

The mind moves in the direction of our currently dominant thoughts

Whenever we're afraid, it's because we don't know enough. If we understood enough, we would never be afraid

We will receive not what we idly wish for but what we justly earn. Our rewards will always be in exact proportion to our service

Your world is a living expression of how you are using and have used your mind

A great attitude does much more than turn on the lights in our worlds; it seems to magically connect us to all sorts of serendipitous opportunities that were somehow absent before the change

All you have to do is know where you're going. The answers will come to you of their own accord

All you need is the plan, the road map, and the courage to press on to your destination

Any person who contributes to prosperity must prosper in turn

The more intensely we feel about an idea or a goal, the more assuredly the idea, buried deep in our subconscious, will direct us along the path to its fulfilment

Creativity is a natural extension of our enthusiasm

Don't let the fear of the time it will take to accomplish something stand in the way of your doing it. The time will pass anyway; we might just as well put that passing time to the best possible use

Everything begins with an idea

We all walk in the dark and each of us must learn to turn on our own light

Excellence always sells

Executive ability is deciding quickly and getting somebody else to do the work

Get into a line of work that you will find to be a deep personal interest, something you really enjoy spending twelve to fifteen hours a day working at, and the rest of the time thinking about

Ideas are elusive, slippery things. Best to keep a pad of paper and a pencil at your bedside, so you can stab them during the night before they get away

Learn to enjoy every minute of your life. Be happy now. Don't wait for something outside of yourself to make you happy in the future. Think how really precious is the time you have to spend, whether it's at work or with your family. Every minute should be enjoyed and savoured

We are at our very best, and we are happiest, when we are fully engaged in work we enjoy on the journey toward the goal we've established for ourselves. It gives meaning to our time off and comfort to our sleep. It makes everything else in life so wonderful, so worthwhile

Our attitude towards others determines their attitude towards us

Our environment, the world in which we live and work, is a mirror of our attitudes and expectations

What's going on in the inside shows on the outside

People are where they are because that is exactly where they really want to be - whether they will admit that or not

We can let circumstances rule us or we can take charge and rule our lives from within

People with goals succeed because they know where they're going

Picture yourself in your mind’s eye as having already achieved this goal. See yourself doing the things you'll be doing when you've reached your goal

Success is the progressive realization of a worthy goal or ideal

The big thing is that you know what you want

We tend to live up to our expectations

Whatever we plant in our subconscious mind and nourish with repetition and emotion will one day become a reality

Wherever there is danger, there lurks opportunity; whenever there is opportunity, there lurks danger. The two are inseparable. They go together

You can measure opportunity with the same yardstick that measures the risk involved. They go together

Your problem is to bridge the gap which exists between where you are now and the goal you intend to reach

The key that unlocks energy is ''Desire'.' It's also the key to a long and interesting life. If we expect to create any drive, any real force within ourselves, we have to get excited

We must be the epitome-the embodiment-of success. We must radiate success before it will come to us. We must first become mentally, from an attitude standpoint, the people we wish to become

For a person to build a rich and rewarding life for himself there are certain qualities and bits of knowledge that he needs to acquire. There are also things, harmful attitudes, superstitions, and emotions that he needs to chip away. A person needs to chip away everything that doesn't look like the person he or she most wants to become

Everything in the world we want to do or get done, we must do with and through people
People who set goals achieve them. The trouble with men is not in achieving them, they do that. It’s in establishing them

The little creatures of the world were given a great gift by Mother Nature called protective colouring, in which they can blend into their background without being seen. Man was not given this gift, because man was given an incalculably greater one, only man has the god like power to make his surroundings change to fit him

None of us would want to work for a company, or invest our money in a company, that didn’t have a very viable research and development department, that was pumping back a good percentage of its profits back into research and development because its future depends on it. Well so does a man’s. You might ask yourself, "How much of your own take home pay, have you spent during the past year into materials calculated to make to you smarter this year, than you were the year before. Calculated to make you a little better, a little bigger as a human being, to perhaps love a little more, hate a little less, do a better job than you did a year ago. How much money are you pumping back into yourself and into your future?

A man’s environment is a merciless mirror of him as a human being, if a man thinks his environment could stand a little improvement all he has to do is improve, and his environment will improve to reflect the changing man

Since everything we do has an equal and opposite reaction, unless what we are doing is based on truth, we are building on sand. It can’t stand

It’s our attitude towards all the world, to all the people in it, that will determine the worlds attitude, and all the peoples attitude toward us

Imagination is everything and we can become what we imagine

A person becomes what they think about most of the time

Virtually all our satisfaction and rewards will come not from our leisure, but from our work

Any person, who knows what they are doing, or where they are going, is a success

Any person who is progressing towards a goal to which they are working, is a successful person

A little rule of thumb you might want to remember is... Whatever the great majority is doing under any given circumstance, if you will do exactly the opposite, you will probably never make another mistake so long as you live

6 Steps to achieving your goals in 2009

A person without goals is like a ship with no rudder – Earl Nightingale

You have the right to pursue any worthy ideal. You can through your choices achieve any goal you want to; your only limit is your imagination. How do you REALLY want to live your life?

It is essential that we set goals, our ambitions will never happen by accident! If we don’t decide where we are going, we substitute our hopes and dreams for a less desirable outcome.

What do you really want this year? Do you believe you can do it? How much effort and sacrifice are you prepared to put in to achieve your goals?

1. DECIDE - Decide what it is you really want, what are your priorities? Tune into your inner compass! Which direction do you want to go?

2. IMAGINE - Feel and imagine what it would be like to achieve your goals. Would all the blood, sweat and tears be worthwhile in the end?

3. BELIEVE – Truly believe that the realisation of your goals are possible

4. PLAN - Make specific plans as to the attainment of your goals

5. ACTION - Put your plan into action! (Quite possibly the most important step and hardest to do)

6. PERSEVERE - Persist with your goals

Steps 3 and 5 can be stumbling blocks. Take time to increase your faith, believe that the goals you set yourself are within your ability to achieve. Then last of all make sure you actually follow through on your plans. Don’t give up at the first signs of failure or struggle.

Get a piece of paper and pen or open a word document. Put these 5 headings:

Relationships and family

Personal

Spiritual

Physical

Financial

Make a few specific goals for each area of your life; if you follow through on your plans and hit your targets then come 2010 you will have grown in self confidence and belief, faith, become better at making real decisions and ready to make your next set of goals.
